| Welcome to Newton Girls Lacrosse! | Last day of registration January 23 for the 2012 Season!
Newton Girls Lacrosse plays in the Founders Girls Lacrosse League (www.fgll.org). The league philosophy is instructional. While there is plenty of opportunity for competitive play during games, the emphasis is on skill building, sportsmanship and being a good team player.
During the Spring of 2011 we fielded 8 teams across grades 1 through 8. Our season begins in early April and extends to mid June.
Practices are on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-7p at Fessenden School's lower fields off Albemarle Road. Games are on Sunday afternoons.
Girls must be currently registered through June 2012 with USLacrosse (need to renew every year) and will be prompted to enter their member number during online registration for NGL. The cost for a one year youth membership is $25 and includes a subscription to Lacrosse magazine.
Each girl will need goggles, a stick and a colored mouthguard (not clear). Most girls in 5th grade and up can use full-length women's sticks. Brine's Sporting Goods on Church Street in Belmont gives Newton Girls lacrosse players a 15% discount. Other sources for equipment are: Sports Etc (Mass Ave in Arlington), Modell's (Needham St, Newton), Thunder Sports (Wellesley), Commonwealth Lacrosse (Framingham). There is also a Warrior outlet in Brighton.
